I have uploaded my sipXecs 3.8 beta Debian packages. More information is available from our Open Source projects site at open.calivia.com/projects/debian.

The binary and source package repository is at scm.calivia.com/pub/sipx/debian/dists/etch/. Instructions on how to add the repository, including the PGP key used to sign the packages, are also available from the site above.

sipXecs 3.8.0 (RC1) Ebuilds for Gentoo Linux

New ebuilds for sipXecs 3.8RC1 are available from my sipXecs Gentoo Ebuild overlay.

The ebuilds are also available from the sipx layman overlay.

sipX liveCD 3.7.6 Beta 2

The second beta of sipXecs 3.7.6 is available at sipxecs.sipfoundry.org/temp/sipXecs/ISO. The liveCD is now based on Fedora Core 6 and installs a complete sipXecs 3.7.6 system ready to go. It even allows for the setup of a distributed (high availability) sipXecs system. The liveCD comes preconfigured with an XFCE desktop to limit dependencies and resource requirements. Firefox is used to access the sipXconfig web UI. All you need is a spare machine and one or more phones and gateways.

The laptop I tested sipXecs on does not have a gigabit interface but - for some reason - the liveCD binds eth0 to the Intel GigE driver. sipXecs failed to start properly because the networking configuration was invalid and the eth0 device was not available on the machine.

Debug packages for Debian (-dbg)

My Debian Etch packages for sipXecs 3.8 beta are stabilizing so I had some time to actually look at the rest of the system.

I discovered a couple of cores from /usr/lib/sipx/sipxrls in /var/log/sipxpbx and fired up gdb which, alas, didn't provide too much information due to the stripped debug symbols. So I went and enabled the creation of -dbg packages with debug symbols for all sipXecs packages.

Updated Gentoo ebuilds for sipX SVN and 3.6.0

I've updated the mainline (aka 3.7) sipX Gentoo Linux ebuilds that are based on direct Subversion checkouts.

The SVN ebuilds now also use the sipx-base package. sipx-base sets up the sipx user and group and creates some generic directories such as /etc/sipxpbx used by almost all sipX components.

There is a new ebuild for sipXtools, the package that contains Shell, Perl and Ruby scripts for the maintenance of sipX. sipXtools is getting pulled-in via a dependency in sipXpbx.
